For the Advent season I decided to try something new. I found a book for a bible journaling challenge and I jumped in. (I shared a little on this video.)
Today, I follow-up on a couple questions I’ve been asked many times since announcing my desire to participate in the challenge: What is it? How’s it going?
What is Bible Journaling?
I am no pro so I will give my definition. Bible journaling is journaling about your experience while interacting with the word. You could be reading or studying. From then you decide if you want to write a journal entry about what you learned, experienced, etc. or you could create an artistic interpretation. Either are meant to slow the person down and give them a moment (or two) to reflect on God’s word.
How’s it Going?
I am loving it. I include it with my morning quiet time (sometimes with praise music but most times without). I am so glad I decided to join this challenge.
I would describe this experience as a cross between studying and meditation. I have learn much about scripture and myself and it has only been a little over a week.
Here are the graphics from my first week:
(I am slightly behind due to traveling. So I will end after Advent but I plan to finish the book.)
Have you tried bible journaling? If so, I’d love to know about your experience. I’ll keep you posted on my progress.
